Raghav Chadha says ‘ask about rajniti not pariniti’ after engagement with Parineeti Chopra

Raghav Chadha, the youngest Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha from Punjab, and Parineeti Chopra, the Bollywood actress, got engaged in a private ceremony on Saturday at the Kapurthala House in New Delhi23. The event was attended by around 150 guests including family members, political leaders and celebrities23.
The couple shared their first-ever engagement pictures on their Instagram pages and expressed their happiness. Raghav wrote, “Everything I prayed for … She said yes!” while Parineeti captioned her post, “I said yes to my best friend.”

For the special occasion, Raghav wore an ivory achkan from his uncle, designer Pawan Sachdeva’s collection, while Parineeti opted for a pastel peach dress by Manish Malhotra. They also received blessings and congratulations from many prominent personalities such as Arvind Kejriwal, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma.
However, not everyone was happy with the news. Some media outlets and social media users questioned the couple’s compatibility and political views. They also speculated about their wedding plans and future projects.
In response to these queries, Raghav Chadha tweeted on Sunday, “Ask about rajniti not pariniti. We are both committed to serving the nation and our respective fields. Our personal life is our own and we request you to respect our privacy. Thank you.”
Parineeti Chopra also echoed his sentiments and posted a story on her Instagram saying, “Please focus on the positive and the good work we are doing. We are happy and grateful for your love and support. Please don’t spread rumours or negativity. Love you all.”
The couple has been rumoured to be dating since March after they were spotted together at a lunch date in Mumbai2. They reportedly studied together at the London School of Economics and have been friends for a long time2.
On the work front, Parineeti will be seen sharing screen space with Diljit Dosanjh in Chamkila, a biopic on the popular Punjabi singers Amarjot Kaur and Amar Singh Chamkila. The film is directed by Imtiaz Ali and is expected to release later this year. Raghav Chadha is a member of the Rajya Sabha from Punjab and a practising chartered accountant. He is also the former Vice Chairman of the Delhi Jal Board and MLA from the Rajendra Nagar assembly constituency in Delhi till 2022
